That is one long list of specifications (long whistle). However, I think it’s important to go through each one and make sure you understand what they will imply for the performance of the bike and how it relates to you. Now we can move on to some highlights of what I think are the most important attributes to consider on the Denali road bike.

Highlighted Features

Did you get lost in the specifications? This is the section for you. We have been through the nitty gritty. There are a few highlights on the GMC Denali road bike I think are worth going over again. Let’s take a look.

Lightweight

When you think of a road bike, this should be one of the very first things you think of. If you have a hefty bike, it’s going to be difficult to maneuver. You want a lightweight bike so you can pick it up easily and store it where you need to.

The GMC Denali road bike is easy to take from place to place. Riding to work? No problem. Pick this bad boy up when you get to your office and hang it on a rack on the back of your door.

If you are using the road bike for more recreational purposes, it still pays to have the lightweight frame and tires. Being able to pick up your bike and toss it up on a bike rack without wrenching your back is the epitome of easy to use.

Price

I bet this was the first thing you thought of. Price is always in the forefront of our minds isn’t it? How much did that powerbar cost me? I know it sticks out in my mind like a sore thumb. You can have all the bells and whistles you want, but at the end of the day, you want a good price for what you are getting.

The Denali road bike has just that. It is actually one of the least expensive road bikes for the quality you are getting on the market. Yahtzee!

Drop-bar Handlebars

We skimmed over this a little in the specifications section. Why are drop-bar handlebars something you need to think about? Ergonomics, baby. If you have ever sat in a poor office chair or even uncomfortable recliner too long, you know what I’m talking about. You want to have proper form for your body when you are riding your road bike.

The drop-bar handlebars allow you to have the right grip and hand placement due to the sheer size and shape. It really is the best fit for a road bike as far as handlebars go.

Different Sizes Available

On the same note as the handlebars, ergonomics are so important. So important in fact, that the GMC Denali road bike has 3 different sizes of bikes to choose from. This allows you to get the right fit for your body. Nobody wants an ill-fitting bike and for good reason. If you get the wrong fit you aren’t going to get the most out of your bike.

Your cadence will most likely be off due to non-optimized leg length. Your shoulders could be overstretched or cramped due to the seat being either too far away or too close to the handlebars. The list goes on. Do yourself a favor and follow the guide to grab the right size for you.

While these are just suggestions, I would highly recommend following them. Size small road bike is 5.1-5.8 inches. The stand over height is 29 inches. Size medium bike is 5.8-6.0 inches. The stand over height is 31 inches. Size large bike is 6.0-6.5 inches. The stand over height is 34 inches.

Appearance

Something that I really like about the GMC Denali road bike is the appearance. I think it’s a more valued quality than people like to admit so I’m just going to shed some light on it. While it doesn’t affect performance, if may affect your attitude and relationship towards your bike.

Besides the three color combinations available (red, black/green, and black/pink), there is an elegant look about this bike. One comment that really sticks out to me from many buyers is that it looks way more expensive than it is.

You are getting a quality bike at a low price and no one is going to know it. Unless, of course, you decide to tell them. I would. I love bragging about mega steals I get. They might end up buying a Denali road bike, too!

Water Bottle Holder

This isn’t a major highlight but I like it all the same. Having a water bottle holder is imperative on a road bike. If it didn’t come with one, you would end up going out and buying one. The GMC Denali road bike includes it for you. One less thing to resource and buy. You are welcome fellow cyclist.

You can probably see why I chose these features as highlights. They are probably the ones that were at the top of your list when looking for a bike, too. Having the amenities like being lightweight and affordable really can make or break a bike and your choice.

What I like and what I don’t like

Alright, we have gone over the intricate details and the highlights of the GMC Denali road bike. You probably have a good idea if this bike is the right one for you but you need to hear the bad with the good. Every product has them and there are a few things I don’t like about this bike. Let’s dive in.

PROS

  • Lightweight

Easy to take with you anywhere and everywhere

  • Great for beginner, easy to use

Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to operate

  • Easy assembly

Make sure you read over the instructions carefully and you won’t have any trouble

  • Price is excellent

One of the best priced quality road bikes on the market

  • Looks nice

Will fool people to believe you have a spendy and extravagant road bike

CONS

  • Stiffer seat

While the manufacturer boasts a comfortable seat, there have been complaints. It isn’t a gel quality seat or a specialty seat. It´s more of a basic seat which may lend itself to a basic amount of comfort. It is stiff and that is not always ideal when riding for long periods of time. If you are just commuting a short distance, I should think it wouldn’t bother you too much.

  • Beginner is great, but if you are an expert may want a higher end bike

This is a big one. If you are a beginner cyclist looking for a road bike, I think this is a great bike to start with. However, if you are an expert and know that you want a higher end bike, I would shoot for a different bike.

  • Brake pads are not high quality

Needs a lot of pressure to brake. Why is this a big deal? If you are in the city commuting, I would worry about the ability to stop really quickly. What if a cab is speeding at you and you need to make a quick stop? It’s definitely something to think about. You could take it to a bike shop and see if they could install a better braking system for you, but then you defeat the nice price of the bike. It’s all about what you want out of the bike.

  • Wheels are not high quality

The wheels are thin and not excellent quality. In fact, some buyers have reported them being crooked upon assembly. Again, you may want to take it to a bike shop once you get it set up. That way they can tune it up and make sure it is road worthy for you. I will make a note here that because of the price you are putting yourself at risk of lower quality parts.

  • Kickstand poor quality

One buyer even commented that his broke off after using it for a week. Now, either he was wearing some metal boots and had an anger issue, or this kickstand is not worth a dime. Take the time to consider if you want/need a kickstand. If you need one, I would consider getting a replacement kickstand.

  • Not true road bike shifters

The shifters are more like a mountain bike shifters. A good bike shop will be able to tinker with them to help you get it more like you want, but it is going to cost you.

Now you have seen both sides of the coin. I think that the GMC Denali road bike has a lot of great qualities and a few qualities that can make your decision for you. If the cons I mentioned are deal breakers, now you can move on and find a different bike. If not, you probably are leaning towards this one. There are a few more things to consider.

GMC Brand Name

Another point you are going to want to consider when looking for a road bike is the brand name. Now, when you look at any kind of product, brand name does play a role. However, when dealing with bikes I feel that it takes on a more significant role. You want to make sure the manufacturer knows what they are doing so you don’t lose a wheel halfway down the street. Safety first!

While they are known for cars, GMC is diving into the cycling industry. They are not doing it blindly. The GMC Denali road bike actually is made by Kent International who has been in the business for 100+ years. That should alleviate any issues you may have had with GMC making the bike.

Is the GMC Denali Road Bike for You?

This is THE question, isn’t it? The GMC Denali road bike is a great bike. There is no doubt about that. But, is it for you? We went over all the bells and whistles and the issues I have had with it. If you are still on the fence, here are a couple of questions you could ask yourself to make a clearer decision.

Expertise Level

Are you a beginner or expert? This is a really important questions. As I mentioned before, if you are an expert road cyclist, I would consider going a different route. It is a great bike but not if you are an expert. It won’t have the quality you have grown to know or expect.

If you are a beginner, I think this is a really great bike to start with. It will get you used to using a road bike and make sure it’s something you really want to pursue. You can do all of this without breaking the bank.

Budget

How much are you willing to spend? If you are looking for an inexpensive option, I like the GMC Denali road bike. If you have more money you are willing to put into a bike, I would consider upgrading and paying a little more.

Use

How often are you going to ride your bicycle? If you are going to ride it every day to and from work on a short commute, I think it’s an excellent choice. If you are going to be taking it on a few trips a year, again, I think the GMC Denali road bike is a great pick.

However, if you are planning on riding this thing day in and day out 20+ miles, I would consider an upgrade. It’s a good idea to invest the amount of money into something based on the time you are going to be putting into it. A good road bike doesn’t differ.

Style

Are you positive you want a road bike? Are you planning on specifically riding on the road or do you want to be on trails, too? A good question to ask yourself as this is a road bicycle for a reason. It won’t do well much anywhere else besides the road.

These questions are important to ask yourself, and honestly. There is a difference between the cyclist you want to be and the cyclist you are. If you answer these questions with an open mind, you are going to have an easier time finding the right bike for you.

The Verdict

The GMC Denali road bike is an awesome choice for an inexpensive road bike. It’s lightweight, affordable, easy to use, and made to make your life easier. You don’t have to worry about all the fuss of a super expensive road bike. If you accidentally drop it when you are loading it up, you can laugh it off.

The Denali road bike has excellent features at a price you just can’t beat. GMC and Kent International teamed up to make a road bike that doesn’t take a lot of thought. That’s one less thing to worry about and one more thing to enjoy. Grab the GMC Denali road bike today and watch the transformation occur in your life.
